RUBICON UNLIMITED

After researching and trialing cars for months, we picked the JKU Rubicon.

Reliability and performance were important factors in the decision process but also accessibility to spare parts globally and of course something fun!

The Wrangler separates itself from other overland vehicles with the enormous range of aftermarket parts and accessories available. The removable freedom roof panels will open our senses to the surrounding environment and provide a protected spectating point for the more sizable wildlife.

The colour white is known to be 20% safer than any other colour on road for its visibility. It is also the colour advised by travelers that attracts the least amount of attention in unsafe areas / countries as it cannot be confused with local official or unofficial enforcement.

Practicalities aside, the Jeep brand is about celebrating the free spirit in all of us and pushing life beyond the limits of our imagination. That's what Expedition Earth is all about.


GARMIN INREACH EXPLORER+

When you're out of reception for days on end, it's important to have a means of contact with the outside world if something were to go wrong.

The Garmin inReach Explorer allows you to send SMS texts to family and friends anywhere at anytime.

If an emergency evacuation were needed, the Garmin carries an SOS feature which if triggered sends an alert message with the devices co-ordinates to all neighboring rescue teams.


DJI MAVIC PRO - GO PRO 6 - PANASONIC LUMIX GH5 - FEIYUTECH A2000

MAVIC PRO - The Mavic Pro is compact and mobile without compromising any of it's performance. We take our drone (Dean) on hikes, but he usually resides in Gunther's glove box, so he's always accessible and setup is quick and easy. He delivers 4K footage which is more than we need, along with 1080 slo-mo for the close-up action shots. The Mavic Pro can fly at 65km an hour which is ideal for keeping up with Gunther.

GO PRO 6 - We use our Go Pro almost every day. It's often strapped to the roof racks of the Jeep so we never miss a moment. A gopro is great for capturing the unexpected. It can fit in your pocket or be recording as a dashcam.

PANASONIC GH5 - The GH5 has so many features, it's taken weeks to navigate our way through them and we are still very much in the learning stage. So far, we love it!

FEIYUTECH A2000 GIMBLE - A 3-axis gimble is definitely a luxury accessory for an expedition like this. Paired with our GH5 it produces smooth and balanced film. We will be experimenting with it in the early stages of this journey.


DEEP SLEEP 4 JEEP

This air mattress has been thoughtfully designed to fit the contours of the JKU rear cabin. It is a must have if you are planning to sleep in your Jeep.

Topher is 6'5 and with the addition of Deep Sleep, he manages to sleep in Gunther very comfortably.

The company is owned by a lovely couple from Arizona, Nate and Liz. They launched their company the week we left on our expedition and were amazing to deal with.
